Wenjie: "As promised(to gab), I shall start off this week’s match report with the headlines: If only…

For those that weren’t present at the match, pls dun be mistaken that it was a game of missed chances..rather this headline was inspired by the constant nagging that I suffered from gabriel (my excellent def central partner) throughout the whole course of the game.. I keep on hearing comments such as: Wah, if I was in that position I would have just lobbed the keeper…if only I was playing as a striker, we wld be more than 2 goals up now..etc.

Never have I heard my Def C partner Kao-beying so much abt him being played in tht position.

Jokes aside, I dun think we played particularly well. However, in that kind of weather and the fact that we were lacking in players, I think it is a great result. Kudos to everyone who turned up(incl Kaiqi!) even though Jueh din play, he still helped to motivate the team. Ninghao must be oso mentioned for praise. W/o gloves and playing 1st match as a GK in such bad
weather and oso suffering from a back strain, he put up a credible performance, stopping a couple of shots.

Pang yew and ernest did well upfront, playeed very well in holding up the ball for others to join the
attack. great awareness from them as well, in scoring the goals. Lianshu did well as well, scored a kio sai goal but nonetheless ran his heart out for the team.

He also" fought" vv hard for the team…and I mean this literally…raining punches but miss…

Steven and Nic did well, containing the opponents wingers and stopped crosses from coming in. Nic had a slow start but after a while managed to settle in v well and cleared a number of through balls and stopped their burly striker on numerous occassions.

Cheney’s corners were superb, vv accurate and created havoc in the opponent’s pen box but still abit soft leh. anyway "Gaucho " plays like tht…i can
understand.

Ok Kah yong and Calvin ran and closed down their midfield well..especially Calvin. Personally I wld
think this match MOM goes to Calvin. He hassled the opponents until alot of them became vv du lan with him.

All in all, hope we can keep this winning run..looking forward to the next match..for those who din turn up, pls turn up and fight for ur places!! Have a good week ahead."

Gabriel: "notice wenjie used the words ‘jokes aside’.
the entire team was playing well enough to allow wenjie n myself to talk a lot of cock during the game.
so dun misunderstand! I’m happy to play where the team wants me to.."

Lianshu: "EH .. din fight very hard la…
much as i wish to but my loose shoulders stopped me doing so …
damn, i missed the punch, next time i’ll hit on target i am sure, then again
it’ll not happen la. ha ha …"

Cheney: "ok..i promise to improve my technique and my leg power, kicking
distance and most impt, my stamina…skills wise…im static…haiz…gaucho"

Here’s something the opponents wrote about the match.

Date            :  30 Jul’06
Time           : 9am
Location    : Bedok Green Secondary School
Opponent  : Dunman All Stars FC

Score : Tusser Ranger FC  1 - Dunman All Stars FC 1

Again
another week of frustration for Tusser Ranger. Another bad performance
continue to haunt us. Don’t know when will our bad patch be ending.

The
field at Bedok Green is really bad for playing. The ground is uneven,
very dry and hard and barely can see any grass around. Tusser played in
this game knowing we need to start winning games in order to catch up
with the leaders. However, we did not manage to string passes around to
good effect. Lossing possession seems to be a norm for us in these few
games. In a rare occasion, our midfielder, James passed the ball
forward, cutting through the entire defence of Dunman All Stars and
reached our striker, Ah Di. Instead of shooting the ball when he’s only
faced with the keeper, he trip on his own leg and we loose this good
opportunity to score. In the 30min, a corner was delivered in by Ah
Whye and it float across the goal area. In came Ah Lim, our top scorer.
We thought this is it, we’re finally taking the lead. The goal never
came, he missed the ball with a header attempt.
The scoreline remain at 0-0 till half time.

The
second half started similar to first half with Tusser not able to
string passess together. In the 70min, a mixed up between our
mid-fielder lost the ball to the Duman midfielder. He cross the ball in
but our right back, Alex was not able to clear the danger. The Dunman
forward bring the ball in and our stopper, Chew Yang follow in trying
to stop him from crossing. He too did not manage to prevent the cross
coming in to our penalty box. The ball went pass everybody and our
defence stood rooted to the ground. It found a totally unmarked Dunman
Striker with a open goal. All he did was a simple tap-in and we asked
ourself, where’s our defender and where’s our marking.

From
this point onwards, Tusser step up their offensive searching for the
equaliser. Our hardwork finally got paid off in the 80min. Ah Koon got
the ball on the right wing. He crosses the ball towards the goal in
search of our striker. The ball did not find anyone and bounced off the
ground. This time, the bad ground condition help us a bit. The ball
bounce off awkwardly and managed to fool the Dunman keeper. He misjudge
the ball and it bounces away from him and into the goal. We’re not
complaining on how the goal was scored and happy that we managed to
equalise. With this goal, we go insearch of the winner but it never
came and our energy was almost drained dry. At the end, it’s a fair
result to both team with scoreline 1-1.

Scorers : Chan Koon Koon (80min)
